From May 17th to 19th, the Wuxi Lihu Ecological Design Festival, with the annual theme of "The Future in Water" and ecological design as its core, kicked off at Lihu (Bogong Island). As one of the initiators, Dr. Liu Hongzhi, Vice President and Secretary General of our association, was invited to participate in the opening ceremony, launch ceremony, the "20-Year Agreement" Lihu Dialogue, and the Global Renewable Industry Salon Dialogue.

In order to deepen the battle against pollution and further promote the green, low-carbon, and high-quality development of Hebei Province, we will continue to innovate the ecological environment oriented development (EOD) model in Shuangqiao District, Chengde City, and promote the realization of ecological product value and high-quality development. At the invitation of the Shuangqiao District Committee and Government of Chengde City, our research team led by Vice President Liu Hongzhi conducted research and held a symposium in Chengde City on May 16th.

During this survey, the research team had a deep understanding of the practices of Shuangqiao District in ecological environment protection and resource utilization. At the same time, on-site inspections were conducted on the construction waste resource utilization project, as well as important ecological projects such as Shuangfengsi Reservoir and Wulie River. Yang Lei, Secretary of the Shuangqiao District Committee, warmly received the research group, and Vice District Mayor Zhang Shengyong and relevant officials from the committee and bureau attended the on-site investigation and symposium. The energy conservation and environmental protection industry in Taixing City, Jiangsu Province started early, has good development momentum, and has many benchmark companies. During the two-day inspection, our delegation had in-depth exchanges with several bureaus and offices in Hejin City, and connected with the heads of key enterprises such as Chinalco Group on business cooperation. Through field visits and symposiums, the two parties conducted extensive and in-depth discussions on how to promote ecological protection and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

This inspection not only deepened the understanding between our association, Hejin Municipal Government and local enterprises, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two parties. The delegation of our association stated that it will actively promote in-depth cooperation with Hejin City in ecological protection, cultivation of new productivity, and high-quality development, and jointly contribute to the construction of ecological civilization and high-quality development in the Yellow River Basin.

Recently, I was invited to visit Zhengzhou University. He also held a discussion with Dean Deng Qihong of the School of Public Health of Zhengzhou University and teachers and students on how to deal with the challenges brought by global climate change.

At the symposium, Dr. Liu Hongzhi, vice president and secretary-general of our association, introduced in detail the development ideas and practices of the zero-carbon and zero-waste ecological park in Tianya District, Sanya City. They shared their experience in resource recycling, energy conservation and emission reduction. Director Huang Wenhai focused on the ecological and environmental issues in the Yellow River Basin. His report not only demonstrated the current challenges, but also pointed out the direction for future environmental protection work. The college also specially invited Professor Tong Shilu, senior consultant of the Institute of Environment of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention and visiting professor of Queensland University of Technology in Australia, to give a keynote speech entitled "Climate Crisis is a Decisive Challenge to Public Health". Professor Tong emphasized that addressing the climate crisis requires the joint efforts of the whole society, especially the active participation and contribution of the public health field.

The participating teachers and students highly recognized the experts’ reports and believed that these contents not only provided rich academic information, but also provided guidance for practical work.

This symposium not only deepened the participants' understanding of the ecological environment and climate crisis, but also provided a platform for in-depth exchanges and learning. It also laid the foundation for promoting deeper cooperation between the association and Zhengzhou University. Both parties will take this opportunity to continue to pay attention to the development trends in the fields of ecological environment and climate crisis, and jointly contribute to building a better ecological environment and healthy human society.
