To implement the relevant decisions of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement, on December 31, 2024, China submitted to the Secretariat of the UNFCCC the "First Biennial Transparency Report on Climate Change of the People's Republic of China" and the "Fourth Biennial Update Report on Climate Change of the People's Republic of China" as scheduled. These two reports comprehensively reflect China's policy actions, progress, and achievements in addressing climate change, showcasing China's active contribution as a responsible major country in the global governance of climate change response.
The contents of the first biennial transparency report and the fourth biennial update report submitted this time include national greenhouse gas inventories, progress on nationally determined contributions, mitigation policy actions and their emission reduction effects, impacts and adaptation to climate change, information on funding, technology, capacity-building needs and support received, as well as basic information on climate change response from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region.
In accordance with relevant requirements, the compilation of the national greenhouse gas inventory for this submission fully referenced the "2006 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories".
